Coronavirus and where things stand with me right now...

A Coronavirus update…

I am writing this at the beginning of June 2020 and wow, the world is a lot different to where we were in January. I wanted to share where I am in terms of my work and how I am trying to deal with things, not only for this year but also next.

First off, I hope everyone that reads this is well and has been keeping safe. I have been lucky in that I haven’t been directly effected by the virus and for that I am grateful. Sadly I do know people that have and they have my heartfelt sympathies.

In terms of work, with Weddings being unable to go ahead and with no real idea when things might change I am more or less done for the the foreseeable future. I have been working with clients who had planned to get married this year in rescheduling to next and with the exception of a handful of weddings later in the year I am more or less sorted in that regard.

I have sadly had 3 cancellations so far as a consequence of Covid-19. Availability in 2021 is rapidly falling and on three occasions I have been unable to accommodate rescheduled dates as a consequence. I just want to give a public thank you to the 3 couples involved who have been absolutely wonderful. They have all showed great understanding of the situation we are all in and it has been hugely appreciated. We have worked together to come to amicable agreements and for that I am very grateful.

2021 is looking great. Very very busy indeed. As I said before, available dates are going quickly. I have taken more new bookings for the year ahead than I usually do at this time of the year which is obviously good news. However, I suppose the main message to take from this is that many wedding suppliers are not going to have many free dates for 2021 towards the latter part of this year…so get in quick!

In addition to running around like a crazy person in trying to deal with the situation we find ourselves in, I have been working on other ventures unrelated to Photography. A new blog pertinent to a personal interest, building a few things in the garden and trying to learn a little more about the world of finance. I have personally developed a greater sense of patience than I previously had through trying to learn how to not worry about things I have no control over (that has been hard!).

So that is that really. I am desperate to get back to work but am accepting that this might not be as soon as I would like.

Stay safe folks!
