Curradine Barns Summer Wedding. Gina and Matts perfect day.

Gina and Matt

Curradine Barns, Worcestershire

This is going to be a bit of a different blog post to my usual efforts for reasons that will become clear shortly. But first things first, I hereby give you the wonderful Gina and Matt’s wedding at Curradine Barns, Worcestershire.

So why different I hear none of you cry. Well, about a week before their wedding date Gina and Matt received some bad news from their original wedding photographer (yes, believe it or not, they had booked someone else…!). Sadly, their original photographer was unable to photograph their day. At this point I want to pass on my best wishes to the person in question. Whilst I don’t know you and we have never met I send my love and best wishes to you and your family and hope that in time you are able to heal.

With that in mind, Gina and Matt had to find someone at the last minute to step in and happily (for me at least) they got in touch… I was free… we were able to come to a mutually agreeable arrangement and I said ‘yes… I would love to try and help out’.

Now, honesty time. Ordinarily when you know you are not the couple in questions first/ideal choice it can be a bit of a strange feeling to deal with. I give all that I have on a wedding day (often feel like I’ve been hit by a tank at the end of a long day) and to know that in reality your clients would rather have had someone else with them is a little weird. However, having met with Gina and Matt a few days before the wedding, coupled with the wonderfully warm welcome I got when I turned up to start my day… any worries I might have just disappeared. It also didn’t hurt that my awesome friend Libby was their videographer, and Ruth and Sam were working together at The Elms… both of whom are lovely people to be around and fantastic Make Up Artists as well.

The day itself turned out to be absolutely wonderful. I did have a few ‘instructions’ from Gina and Matt which was a little different for me but nothing that detracted from the fun I was having and actually pushed me out of my comfort zone a little which in hindsight was a great thing. The weather was insane (another cloudless, boiling hot June day) and their family and friends were wonderful to spend time with.

All in all, it was a really special day for me. Curradine Barns was fantastic as always, seeing Libby again for the first time after Covid was lovely, the effort Gina and Matt had put into their day was evident for all to see (hopefully I managed to capture it the best I could) and their welcome meant more that I think they realised.

Thank you so much for asking me to step in and for trusting me to capture your day Gina and Matt. You are both very special people and your day will live long in my memory.

Here are a few (a lot) of their wedding photographs!
