50 Shades of Grey Skies: Wedding Photography at Wethele Manor. Cat and Chris' perfect day the weather couldn't spoil.

Cat and Chris
Wethele Manor, Warwickshire.
Writing posts about the weddings I’ve shot is kind of hard. I’m no Charles Dickens (or Isaac Asimov to refer to the author I’m currently obsessed with) … and even if I were, what can I write that I haven’t written before? How many times can I say how wonderful people are or what an amazing day it was before it starts to sound less than meaningful (even though it’s true).
So what to do?
The wedding industry is awash with people writing about weddings and what you should do, wear, eat, dance to etc. Should I follow their lead and do the same thing?
If I’m honest none of this sort of thing interests me. I mean think about it, when you asked your partner to marry you or when you said yes, did your mind immediately go to what shade of pink you want your table napkins to be or what font you just have to use on your invites?
No? Me neither.
So, I seem to always revert back to writing about what is important to me… the people.
I want to photograph celebrations not table settings.
I’ve no interest in capturing a couple running through a cornfield chased by imaginary dinosaurs (is that still a thing?) or getting involved in trying to photograph the perfect image of a pair of shoes.
With that in mind here I go reverting back to type again. Cat and Chris were exactly the kind of people I LOVE working for. Kind, calm and simply wanting to celebrate their marriage with the people that mean the most to them. No fuss, just love.
Their day at Wethele Manor (which will henceforth be named Weatherly Manor by yours truly) was a joy to be a small part of.
Why Weatherly Manor? Well You don’t book a wedding in the UK without making peace with the fact that you’re essentially marrying into a relationship with rain. If there's one thing more unpredictable than your Aunt Carol after two glasses of Prosecco, it's the British weather.
And this day was no different. It rained. A LOT.
Cat and Chris rolled with the punches. The management and staff at Wethele made sure all ceremony options (indoor and outdoor) were available until the very last minute, meaning C&C were able to get married outside under cover, even with rain threatening to make an appearance. The rainstorm that eventually followed lasted quite a while but they were still able to carry on with the party indoors without any hint of a problem. And the sun did make an appearance in the evening meaning we could get back outside to enjoy the beautiful grounds Wethele Manor has to offer.
Massive thanks to everyone at Wethele for the wonderful welcome, and of course to C&C for simply being the best.
Here are a few of their images.
